Martin Lewis to host new ITV gameshow amid Good Morning Britain absence

Martin Lewis has landed a new ITV show where he will mentor fans in how to win classic boardgames.

is a board game enthusiast and a report has suggested he will helm a new festive TV show this where he explores some of his favourites. The star is expected to explore games like Monopoly and Scrabble while also sharing top tips on finances.

Martin will also put his own game skills to the test by taking on experts of his favourite boards to play against them. The new show, which does not yet appear to have a title, is expected to air on Christmas Day.

With games such as Monopoly being a family favourite over the festive season, fans might want to wait to watch the show before challenging family and friends after their Christmas meal. It will also give fans a chance to see Martin on screens as he has previously warned as he is busy with other projects.

Earlier this month, Martin shared how couples can bag themselves a free cheque worth £1,006 before Christmas this year. The recent Money Saving Expert (MSE) newsletter explained that married couples - or those in a civil partnerhips - could claim a thing called "Marriage Tax Allowance". The tax perk allows the lower earner in the relationship to transfer £1,260 of their personal allowance to their partner. The personal allowance is the amount of money you can make before having to pay tax on it.

The personal allowance currently sits at £12,570 - so if you earn below this, you do not pay any tax, and if you earn above, then you pay tax on your income over this level. For example, if you earn £12,600 - then you will only pay tax on £30. Martin noted that although claiming tax allowances wasn't a "traditional" Christmas fare, over two million couples could get a tax refund of up to £1,260 and for many this could include a cheque worth over a grand.

Explaining how it worked, the MSE website founder noted that to get it, you first needed to be married or in a civil partnership. Secondly, one partner needed to be a non-taxpayer - meaning they earn under £12,570 a year. The other also needs to be a 20% basic rate taxpayer - so earning between £12,570 to £50,270 a year or between £12,570 to £43,662 if you're based in .
