Manchester United is said to be targeting a young player that reportedly just gone.

FC Midtjylland and Chile wonderkid Dario Osorio is said to be attracting interest from a host of top clubs around Europe, with United scouts reported to have watched Osorio during Midtjylland's Europa League meeting with Hoffenheim at the end of September.

Borussia Dortmund, Lille and Real Sociedad are among the other European clubs that says are looking at 20-year-old Osorio, who is a right winger and has played 13 times for the Chile national team.

It is claimed that the interested parties are fans of Osorio's balanced game, with the report saying that the youngster possesses a good mix of technique, shooting, pace and football understanding. Interestingly, the same report says that Liverpool submitted an official offer for Osorio worth 65 to 75 million kroner ($6-7m) during the summer transfer window, but that it was swiftly rejected by the Danish club.

Midtjylland reportedly has no intention of selling Osorio for anything less than a club-record fee. The current record fee that Midtjylland has ever received for a player is €16m ($18m), which the club pocketed from Crystal Palace for Alexander Sorloth in 2018.

Midtjylland and Uruguay midfielder Emiliano Martinez said he is not surprised by the attention his young teammate is attracting: "It [the interest] does not surprise me, because the truth is that in every game he plays, he shows his qualities. The skills he shows are generating interest from big clubs. I am really happy for him. With the physical and technical qualities, I think he will go far."

Speaking in November 2023, Osorio said of his future: "I don't think at all about what might happen one day far in the future. For me, it's all about taking things day by day and not rushing anything. I've always felt that it's about the club you're playing at the moment. I'm at FC Midtjylland now, so everything is about me being focused. And if one day in the future there is an offer for me, well then it's something we will decide together at that time."

It remains unclear whether Liverpool will go back in for Osorio in future, but the Reds could well be in the market for a left-footed right-winger in the summer if Mohamed Salah leaves the club at the end of his contract, although he could hardly be expected to replace arguably Liverpool's greatest player of the Premier League era.

Salah's current contract expires at the end of this season and Arne Slot about the 32-year-old's future.
