Jose Mourinho has downplayed the significance of the Club World Cup, suggesting it was "only important for Chelsea" and comparing the tournament to his experiences of pre-season tours in the United States.
Chelseaemerged as the inaugural winners of the expanded FIFA competition, stunning PSG with a 3-0 victory in the final, despite the Parisians being strong favourites following their demolition of Real Madrid in the semi-finals. The Blues' path to glory saw them overcome Benfica, Palmeiras, and Fluminense.
Enzo Maresca praised his team's performance and emphasised the value of the Club World Cup after the triumph. "I think it will become as important as the Champions League and we value it as much as winning the Champions League," the Italian declared.

However, the tournament's credibility was questioned by some due to the absence of several top clubs, including Barcelona and Liverpool. Mourinho, currently at the helm of Fenerbahce, implied that the event was a little more than a glorified pre-season trip, reports the Mirror.
Speaking to Canal 11, Mourinho said: "This Club World Cup also highlighted a kid who also had a great season at Chelsea, Cole Palmer. But this run to the semi-finals reminded me every time I went to the United States for pre-season with Real Madrid and Inter, it reminded me a little of those games we played there.
"So, I think this Club World Cup title is only important for Chelsea, as they'll sell a lot of jerseys with the logo on there. So, I think PSG was the big winner this season, not because of what they did domestically, because they always win domestically, but winning the Champions League and the way they did, especially with the idea of losing their best player."
The ex-Blues boss made his thoughts clear as he added: "I think this PSG team is the best team of the season." Under the guidance of Luis Enrique, PSG clinched a treble and set a record for the largest victory margin in a Champions League final.
Opinions on the Club World Cup were largely mixed. Jurgen Klopp expressed a particularly critical view, while many matches failed to draw full houses. The tournament also featured teams like Auckland City, which boasted several semi-professional players.
However, Chelsea's own Levi Colwill reflected Maresca's sentiment when he stated: "This is the biggest trophy I've ever won. I think the Club World Cup will be bigger than the Champions League and we were the first team to win it."
