ITV News' Lucy Meacock gets married in stunning snaps and shares touching tribute to dad

ITV News star has revealed the secrets behind her stunning wedding after quitting her job.

The presenter, 64, back in August after 36 years. She confirmed her departure from over the summer, admitting it was "one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made". She joined Granada Reports in 1998 and was the lead female presenter ever since.

This weekend, Lucy confirmed she said 'I do' to her new husband by sharing a series of beautiful photos with her fans. Lucy looked gorgeous in a shimmery long-sleeve white gown as she walked down the aisle with her husband Jonathan. He looked dapper in a three-piece suit and beamed as he held hands with his wife at their ceremony in Eccleston, Lancashire.

The new couple were joined by their close friends and family to mark their special day. Lucy made sure to add special touches to her day, including a bouquet of white roses to symbolise her husband being from Yorkshire. Explaining her touching flower choice, Lucy said: "White roses as groom is from Yorkshire.

"And one secret flower that was my Dad’s favourite so he was there when I walked up the aisle. Later, in a quiet moment I left it where I scattered my parents’ ashes many years ago." The former news presenter also gave an insight into her hair and makeup choices. She revealed: "Secrets of a bride! It takes a lot of very hardworking & brilliant people to make me look like this!!

"Loved our dresses @mariamorriscouture Never believed my hair could look like that @ddhair_beauty thanks Kieran, make up was fab Harriet Maguire - you superstar (please thank your fab Mum for the fizz) & well done w the nails Lauren @superdrugbroughton which still look fab 5 days into our marriage.

"No freebies btw just all super talented lovely people. I believe in thanking people when they do a great job. Thank you for transforming me." Lucy and Jonathan were flooded with well-wishes as one said: "Wishing you a long and happy marriage Lucy, filled with lots of love, laughter and good times."

Another added: "So many congratulations to you both - such a beautiful day. Wishing you every happiness for your future together xx." Someone else commented: "Aw how lovely. Simple elegance. Brought a tear to my eyes the bouquet xx." A fourth wrote: "Congratulations and you looked amazing absolutely stunning hope you both have a wonderful life together meant to be."

Lucy said: "This has been one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made. But the time is right to move on now. For me it has always been the best job in the , with the best people in the world, in the best region in the world! I am very grateful that I was given this job so many years ago. I have always tried my hardest to make a positive contribution and I hope I will be remembered with some fondness in the years ahead."

She added: "It has been a complete honour and privilege to serve the people of this region and I will always have the interests of the North West at heart. A big thank you to all the people who have appeared on the programme over the years, sometimes when they have been facing some very tough challenges.”
